BloombergNEF (BNEF) is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to join our European gas team in a data analyst role for a 6 month contract. To succeed in this role, you will have a genuine passion for the gas and LNG industry alongside a genuine appreciation of the importance of data and quantitative methods. In this role, you will be focused on ensuring the data used in our gas market research and analysis is sourced, stored, modelled and visualised to the highest possible standards whilst also helping build our new generation of client-facing tools., * Collaborating with colleagues to develop, maintain and run our gas market forecasting models to time and quality standards.
- Constantly evolving, improving and fine-tuning existing Python scripts relating to our core remit of analysing and forecasting European gas market supply/demand fundamentals.
- Working alongside the gas analysts to conceptualise, plan and execute new scripts and models to further develop the forecasting work of the team.
- Contributing quantitative insights and expertise to the work of the team and providing expertise and input to ongoing research.
- Assisting with process mapping alongside ongoing process refinement and improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Python?, * Experience in European gas/LNG market research and analysis.
- Strong understanding of data and statistical methods, such as regressions and other time-series analysis.
- Demonstrable and tangible expertise in creating, refining and enhancing existing Python code to a high standard combined with the ability to efficiently write new code.
- Particular experience in, and aptitude for, rigorous user testing, debugging and troubleshooting scripts.
- Strong knowledge of data management and visualization.
- A track record of thinking critically and developing well-structured and thoughtful analysis by cutting through the noise of data, extracting key patterns, applying scepticism and challenging conventional wisdom.
- Curiosity and the ability to quickly understand, distil and work with complex topics and data sets.
- Well-developed communication skills with the ability to understand user requirements and to quickly turn these into new scripts and models adopted by the analyst team.
