We're looking for a talented GCP (Google Cloud Platform) and Azure Cloud Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team and help us deliver secure, scalable, and efficient cloud solutions that keep the nation's energy flowing.
The GCP and Azure Cloud Engineer is responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure across GCP and Azure. This role requires technical expertise in cloud-native services, automation, and security, and will drive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, and DevSecOps practices., Cloud Architecture & Engineering:
- Design, build, and manage complex cloud environments using GCP and Azure, ensuring adherence to architectural guardrails and tagging standards.
- Develop and maintain secure, multi-region, multi-account cloud landing zones using automation frameworks.
- Implement advanced networking (VPC, VPN, hybrid connectivity, load balancing, DNS, CDN) and security controls (IAM, RBAC, KMS, firewalls, SIEM integration).
Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
- Develop, test, and maintain IaC templates using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible for repeatable, auditable deployments.
- Integrate IaC pipelines with version control (Git), automated testing, and policy-as-code (e.g., Sentinel, OPA) for compliance enforcement.
- Champion GitOps and immutable infrastructure patterns.
CI/CD & DevOps:
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.) for automated build, test, and deployment of cloud-native and containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm).
- Implement blue/green and canary deployment strategies, automated rollbacks, and robust monitoring/alerting for production workloads.
- Collaborate with development and SRE teams to embed security and quality gates into the SDLC.
Cloud Security & Compliance:
- Enforce cloud security best practices, including least privilege, encryption at rest/in transit, vulnerability scanning, and automated remediation.
- Support ITGC, audit, and regulatory requirements by implementing controls, monitoring, and evidence collection for cloud environments.
- Respond to security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement.
Monitoring, Observability & Cost Optimization:
- Deploy and manage cloud-native monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions (e.g., Azure Monitor, GCP Operations Suite, AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Analyse resource utilization, optimise for performance and cost, and implement automated scaling and rightsizing.
- Produce dashboards and reports for operational and business stakeholders.
Incident Response & Troubleshooting:
- Lead incident response for cloud infrastructure issues, including root cause analysis and post-mortem documentation
- Develop and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans for critical workloads.
Requirements
Do you have experience in VPN?, You're an experienced Cloud Engineer with advanced hands-on experience with Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including multi-cloud and hybrid architectures. Also, IaC & Automation: Proficiency in Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, and scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- CI/CD & DevOps: Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and orchestration
- Security: Solid understanding of cloud security frameworks, IAM, encryption, vulnerability management, and compliance (ISO, NIST, CIS)
- Networking: Expertise in cloud networking, VPNs, load balancers, DNS, CDN, and hybrid connectivity
- Monitoring & Observability: Experience with cloud-native and open-source monitoring, logging, and alerting tools
Desirable Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Certifications: Azure Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect.
- Experience with policy-as-code, GitOps, and advanced automation frameworks.
- Exposure to AI/ML workloads, serverless architectures, and cloud cost management tools., The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.

- Salary c£70,000 dependant on experience
