Job description
Cochlear Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Digital ASIC Architect to join our R&D team in Mechelen, Belgium. As the Principal Digital ASIC Architect, you will be the design authority for Cochlear's HW Platform and ASIC developments, driving the definition, development, and verification of next-generation digital ASICs for our hearing implantable solutions. This role is critical in shaping the future of Cochlear's products by defining and developing HW platforms that meet the needs of multiple products and product families., * Define, manage, and develop HW Technology Platforms and ASICs: Set technical direction and drive the development of digital ASIC component architectures for hearing implantable solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work with development teams to create HW platform architectures and requirements, ensuring a good partition between custom ASICs, off-the-shelf components, hardware functions, and software/firmware.
- Architectural trade-offs: Make high-quality architectural decisions, balancing flexibility and efficiency, and document them properly.
- Guide and mentor: Lead a team of Analog/Digital and Electrical engineers and ASIC suppliers through the development and verification of platforms and components.
- Technical leadership: Provide technical input, manage dependencies, assess risks, and ensure high-quality design documentation.
- Advance ASIC/HW Platform capability: Champion best practices in ASIC implementation, simulation, verification, and validation.
- Innovation and technology scouting: Research new circuits and systems, contribute to ASIC architecture definition, and explore new technologies for medical purposes.
- Stakeholder management: Develop and maintain effective networks with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with Cochlear's product roadmap.
- Build a Center of Excellence: Promote re-use and synergies across digital ASIC components and platforms, and drive the digital community of technical experts.
Requirements
Do you have experience in System architecture?, Do you have a Master's degree?, * Education: Degree (Master or above) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: At least 8-10 years of ASIC design experience in a semiconductor environment.
- Skills:
- Strong background in system architecture, ASIC architecture, and analog/digital ASIC design.
- Proficiency in custom ASIC design flow, including analog design, RTL, synthesis, UVM, and IC technologies.
- Familiarity with low power methodologies, packaging technologies, and ASIC CAD tools.
- Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration experience and stakeholder management skills.
- Coaching and mentoring experience.
- Travel: Ability to travel internationally (1-3 times per year)., * Possesses a "platform mindset" with the ability to drive the technical development of complete platforms for multiple products.
- Experience in medical device development or safety-critical applications.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards.
- Strong interest in continuous learning and staying updated with the latest technology developments.
