Job description
The Technical Operational Support Manager will work in our Oxford based site with the possible introduction of a Cambridge site, supporting the Contract Manager in delivering a safe, compliant, and high-quality service that meets both client and Acorn expectations.
You will work closely with the Contract Manager, site teams, and subcontractor partners to ensure Acorn values, behaviours, and operational excellence are upheld across both locations., Operations & Technical Support
- Provide hands-on technical support across both Cambridge and Oxford sites, with a particular focus on electrical systems, reactive maintenance, and PPM delivery.
- Support the technical team in developing RAMS for higher-risk electrical and M&E activities (IOSH applicable).
- Maintain a proactive approach to managing the CAFM system, ensuring tasks are completed and documented to required standards.
- Assist with producing, reviewing, and submitting quotes, ensuring compliance with client standards and internal processes.
- Support the Contract Manager in managing WIP, aged debt, and weekly reporting in their absence.
Multi-Site Service Delivery
- Ensure service consistency and operational alignment across our Oxford site, including daily engagement with site teams.
- Conduct regular site walk-arounds, audits, and compliance checks to maintain standards and meet KPIs/SLA requirements.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities across both sites, ensuring safe systems of work and high-quality delivery.
Team Management & Communication
- Provide day-to-day leadership support and act as the point of contact when the Contract Manager is unavailable.
- Deliver weekly infrastructure reports and attend site/client meetings as required.
- Support coordination of shift patterns, leave management, and team resourcing across both locations.
- Maintain strong communication flows between the two sites to ensure consistent service output.
Health & Safety
- Champion a safety-first culture across both sites, ensuring electrical safety compliance is rigorously applied.
- Complete near-miss reporting, ensure PPE standards, and raise any H&S concerns promptly.
Systems & Quality
- Ensure Concept tasks (PPM/reactive/extra works) are completed on time with full reporting.
- Conduct QA checks (10% monthly) and ensure stock management, workshop standards, and plant room housekeeping are maintained.
Stock & Asset Control
- Oversee critical electrical and M&E spares, maintain stock accuracy, and coordinate replenishment requests with Contract Manager.
- Keep storerooms organised across both sites.

Requirements
Do you have experience in Electrical engineering?, * Electrical engineering background (required) with hands-on technical experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and support teams across two separate sites.
- Strong organisational and planning capability.
- Ability to analyse data, budgets, and operational reports.
- Proactive mindset, able to anticipate needs and implement improvements.
- IT-literate and confident using CAFM systems., * Relevant electrical qualification (NVQ/City & Guilds/Equivalent).
- Recognised HSE qualification: minimum IOSH Managing Safely.
- Additional M&E qualifications beneficial.
