This is a Mechanical Production Support Engineer opportunity with a well-established engineering manufacturer in Poole producing complex electro-mechanical equipment for demanding operational environments. The business has a strong reputation for well-engineered products, a growing order book, and long-term programmes in place.
They're strengthening their Product Support capability within Production Engineering and are open to candidates across a range of levels from developing Product Support Engineers through to more experienced engineers with leadership capability. The Mechanical Production Support Engineer role sits at the centre of production support, working across design, quality, supply chain and operations to keep assembly running smoothly and improve right-first-time performance.
The Mechanical Production Support Engineer role
As a Mechanical Production Support Engineer, you'll provide hands-on technical support across the product lifecycle, helping to resolve product and process issues, improve manufacturability, and support production output.
Depending on your experience level, the Mechanical Production Support Engineer role can include greater ownership of complex investigations, cross-functional coordination, and support/mentoring of other engineers.
Day-to-day responsibilities of a Mechanical Production Support Engineer
- Provide technical support to production/assembly teams on mechanical and electro-mechanical build issues
- Investigate product and process problems and support practical resolutions
- Support engineering change activity and technical support documentation
- Work with Design, Quality, Supply Chain and Operations to improve manufacturability and build performance
- Assist with technical analysis and root-cause investigation of recurring issues
- Support supplier discussions around parts, sub-assemblies and assembly-related concerns
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities across quality, cost and delivery
- Represent the team in internal review meetings where required
- Help standardise technical documentation and support processes
- At higher level, support prioritisation of work and guide less experienced engineers
Requirements
Do you have experience in SolidWorks?, * Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline), or equivalent practical experience
- Background in product support, manufacturing engineering, production engineering, assembly engineering, or similar
- Experience supporting complex manufacturing/assembly environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and a practical engineering mindset
- CAD confidence (e.g. SolidWorks / CREO) and general engineering software literacy
- Good communication across shop floor teams and wider stakeholders
- Able to work under pressure and manage priorities
- Eligibility to obtain SC Clearance
