Job description
- Developing and implementing a multi-year technology strategy aligned with the group's commercial and operational ambitions.
- Professionalising software development by introducing structure, testing frameworks, version control, modular architectures and quality assurance processes.
- Driving productisation by creating standardised hardware and software building blocks that reduce complexity and enable efficient scaling.
- Strengthening solution design as a differentiator during the pre-sales phase, ensuring concepts are feasible, competitive and well-substantiated.
- Leading and developing the engineering organisation across software, PLC/controls, system design and product management.
- Creating engineering governance, technical standards and quality gates that reduce late changes, rework and commissioning issues.
- Ensuring strong alignment with Sales, Project Execution and Service to secure deliverable and serviceable technical solutions.
- Managing resource allocation within the engineering and software teams to balance customer projects with internal development.
- Acting as technology authority in leadership forums, contributing to strategic decisions, investment priorities and long-term product direction.
Requirements
You are an experienced technology leader with a deep background in automation, intralogistics or system-integration environments. You are comfortable shaping engineering organisations, driving standardisation and guiding complex technical development.You bring:
- 10-20+ years in technical leadership roles in automation, software, controls, system engineering or mechatronics.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams at scale.
- Strong understanding of software development maturity, PLC/controls and engineering architecture.
- Proven experience transforming engineering or R&D organisations, introducing structure, governance and quality.
- Proven track record in delivering advanced intralogistics automation and warehouse systems - must
- Ability to work in a project-driven, high-complexity environment without losing speed and pragmatism.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally with sales, operations and service stakeholders.
- Fluency in German and English.
- Willingness to be onsite in Southern Germany several days per week.
