As Principal Engineer - Tech@Lilly Intra Logistics Systems (ILS) Data Systems lead, you will collaborate with both site and global teams to design, develop, and support manufacturing intralogistics systems. Acting as the technical ILS lead from a systems and data perspective, you will ensure robust integration and validation across platforms including SAP, EWM, MES, WCS/ASRS, AGV, Robotics solutions and other SAP modules.
Your core responsibility is to enable seamless end-to-end data systems integration by understanding the full scope of intralogistics processes and technical integration mechanisms. You will serve as a strategic bridge between systems and cross-functional teams, ensuring dock-to-dock system readiness and operational excellence being responsible for the site technical readiness.
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
- Responsible for the local technical implementation and maintenance of the SAP EWM solution, the scope of logistics support will include additional solutions beyond EWM, like logistic flow monitoring tools, transportation management, data analytics, etc.
- Understand the Lilly Manufacturing production environment, specifically the use and integration with Robotics, MES and SAP/EWM systems and how it enables site operational stability, dock to dock strategy and Tech@Lilly goals.
- Drive the on-going site operational activities and facilitate utilization of EWM and SAP systems:
- Giving technical guidance on how to update the EWM system to align with site production goals.
- Partnering with multiple site teams such as MES, Automation and Engineering specialists to develop EWM and support integration with other ILS systems (WCS/ASRS, AGV, MES, robotic equipment, etc.)
- Develop and implement T@L owned system enhancements and process improvements.
- Drive activities and projects to deliver business driven requirements and influence the global system roadmap.
- Proactively seek opportunities for Tech@Lilly to deliver business value.
- Find and act on replication opportunities between sites and functions.
- Build deep IT Quality & GMP capabilities with an ability to understand IT processes, SOPs, and Global Quality Standards.
- Effectively leverages the strength of peers and/or vendor(s) to delivery timely, high quality and consistent outcomes across multiple organizations and Tech@Lilly platforms.
- Leverage knowledge of the business, Tech@Lilly portfolio, and architectural standards to develop and quantify business cases to provide input to the Tech@Lilly and site roadmaps and to measure the value gained from the implementation of solutions.
- The scope of the role will include additional solutions beyond EWM, like logistic flow monitoring tools, transportation management, data analytics, etc.
- Responsible for Technical oversight for the ILS system integrations. Understands how all the systems interrelate and has Responsibility for the overall success of the system
- First point of contact for technical changes to the data systems. Responsible for ensuring the system meets the requirements.
- Leads the team(s) in developing connections to key KPI data
- Responsible for interfacing with key business leaders to ensure ILS systems are meeting business targets and are fit for use within the ILS scope.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of professional technical experience.
- Experience working in a regulated industry (i.e.: GMP).
- Minimum of 4 years' experience implementing and maintaining SAP, with demonstrated expertise in SAP design, particularly in EWM or WM and the Manufacturing Operations (MO) space.
- Strong hands-on experience integrating warehouse automation technologies (e.g., ASRS, AGVs, Picking Solutions) with SAP EWM.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong stakeholder relationships and effectively articulate complex technical concepts.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities to identify and resolve technical issues related to ILS systems, including SAP and EWM configurations and integrations.
- Adaptability and flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Solid understanding of GMP requirements and experience delivering solutions within regulated environments.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Understanding of cybersecurity concepts and best practices related to IT technologies.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), such as FDA regulations for manufacturing.
- Build solutions using an agile framework for the entire solution lifecycle including designing, implementing, automating, modernizing, maintaining, and optimizing solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and leverage key internal and external cross-functional relationships to develop ideas, solutions, and opportunities.
- Ability to influence integration points with site processes, functions, business leaders, and vendors.
- Ability to challenge the status quo and strong ability to drive peers and above to timely decisions.
- Ability to learn new business processes and effectively translate those to technical and application needs.
- Understanding of GMP requirements and experience delivering within those requirements
- Experience with technical mentoring and developing technical team members.
- Exposure to international operations, diverse teams, global IT projects, or working in a global organization.
