Job description

Back End Engineer (AI with C#) Location: Fully remote (UK-wide only). Optional office in Old Street, London. We also host company meetups twice a year (previously in the Cotswolds and Paris).About Us Claimit is a rapidly growing, seed-stage AI startup transforming how logistics and supply chain businesses manage claims. In most logistics networks this process is still handled manually. Teams spend hours reviewing documents, checking shipment records and moving information between systems. Claimit reduces that manual work by automating large parts of the claims process using software and AI.Customers use Claimit to process claims faster, reduce operational overhead and gain clearer visibility of what is actually happening across their logistics networks. We are an early-stage company with a small engineering team and a lot of interesting problems to solve. The Role We are looking for a Back End Engineer to help build and evolve the core platform that powers Claimit. This is a hands-on role focused on building reliable back end services, APIs and data systems within our Microsoft stack as we move through .NET Core 9 and towards .NET Core 10.You will work closely with our CTO and a small engineering team to design and ship production systems that support customer-facing features, AI-driven workflows and data-heavy processing.Engineers at Claimit are expected to contribute ideas about the product, not just the implementation. The best ideas often come directly from the people building the systems. We are particularly interested in engineers who are curious about how AI is reshaping software development and are excited to experiment with modern tooling and workflows. We actively encourage engineers to use modern AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot, Cursor and similar platforms to improve speed, quality and productivity. What You'll Work OnYou will spend most of your time building and improving the services that power Claimit's core platform. This includes designing and building APIs, evolving data models, improving system performance and ensuring the platform remains reliable as usage grows. You will work closely with product and engineering teammates to translate real customer problems into well-structured technical solutions.Because we are a small team, you will see the full lifecycle of what you build, from initial idea through to production and real customer impact. Many of the workflows we are building involve AI-assisted decision making, automated document handling and large-scale data processing across logistics networks. You will help shape how these systems are designed and implemented as the product evolves. What Good Looks Like In This RoleIn a startup like Claimit, strong engineers are curious about the product, not just the code. You take the time to understand the real-world problems we are solving and how customers interact with the systems we build. You bring solid experience building back end systems and APIs in production environments, ideally within SaaS or product-led teams. You are comfortable working with C#, ASP.NET Core and modern .NET development practices. You care about writing reliable, maintainable systems but you also value shipping improvements regularly and learning from real usage. You are curious about how AI is changing both software products and the way engineers build them. You experiment with new tools, workflows or approaches that help improve productivity or product capability. Most importantly, you are motivated by learning quickly, improving your craft and building software that solves real operational problems. What You'll Learn And Be Exposed ToWorking at Claimit will give you exposure to challenges engineers in larger companies often do not see.You will gain hands-on exposure to how AI-driven automation is applied to real operational problems in logistics and supply chains. You will work closely with founders and product leaders and contribute directly to product and technical decisions. You will see how engineering work connects directly to customer outcomes and business growth. You will experiment with modern development tooling and AI-assisted workflows that help teams move faster. As the company grows, you will also have the opportunity to grow into more senior technical responsibility within the team. You'll Probably Enjoy This Role IfYou enjoy working in smaller teams where engineers have real influence over what gets built. You like understanding the real-world problems behind the software you are building. You are curious about how AI and modern tooling are changing how software is developed. You enjoy shipping improvements regularly rather than working on long multi-month development cycles. You take pride in improving systems over time rather than simply delivering individual features. This Role May Not Be For You IfYou prefer highly structured environments where requirements and architecture are fully defined before development begins. You are uncomfortable working in a small team where engineers are expected to contribute ideas and challenge assumptions. You prefer focusing purely on code without understanding the customer problems behind the product. You are not interested in exploring how AI tooling can improve engineering workflows or product capability.Nice To HaveExposure to logistics, supply chain or operational systemsExperience working in startup or early-stage product teamsFamiliarity with Azure or similar cloud environmentsExperience with containerised environments such as DockerExposure to data-driven or AI-enabled productsWhat's on OfferA genuinely competitive salary, plus meaningful equity in a seed-stage AI business (details shared during early interview stages).25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays.Access to our EMI share scheme.Pension scheme.Remote working within the UK.Candidate ExperienceOur interview process is designed to be clear, respectful and efficient.Intro call with a Talent Partner (30-35 mins)Technical interview (video) with a Senior Engineer and our Co-Founder & CTO, David (1 hour) - incl live coding task (15-20mins)Final video call with Co-Founder & CEO, Andy (30 mins)We aim to give feedback within 24-48 hours at each stage and complete the full process within 1-2 weeks.#J-18808-Ljbffr Similar jobs, Job Description Senior DotNet Backend Developer - WealthTech SaaS Platform - London, UK - 6 Month Contract (Outside IR35) A global wealth management technology provider is seeking multiple DotNet Backend Developers to contribute to its core enterprise SaaS platform used..., Senior Application Architect (10+ years) to design and oversee Azure-based application solutions, including front-end, back-end, APIs, and hybrid/cloud-native architectures within the Public Sector, Our valued client is seeking a Senior Application Architect (10+ years) to design and oversee Azure-based application solutions, including front-end, back-end, APIs, and hybrid/cloud-native architectures.
