Backend Engineer

Withover $65B in cumulative trading volume and more than 400,000 registered traders, they areleading the charge to bring on-chain perpetuals trading to the mainstreamThey are looking for a Senior Backend Developer who willown the infrastructure powering data pipelines, APIs, real-time delivery, and the databases underneath.This role is ideal if you thrive in ambiguous, 0-to-1 environments and want to be directly responsible for shipping products used by millions of traders.You will be on the front lines of scaling the company to millions of users, building trading interfaces that move billions of dollars in volume every day while still feeling fast, intuitive, and delightful.You will work alongside people who care deeply about craft, move quickly, and hold a very high bar for both technical excellence and product quality.This role is remote (Europe or USA) with overlap with EST timezoneMissionsOwn architecture decisions for the company's backend systemsBuild and operate real-time data pipelines for order book updates, trades, and market eventsDesign and maintain the API layer (GraphQL, WebSockets) serving web and mobile clientsWork with ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, and Redis to handle high-volume trading dataOptimize query performance, caching, and schema design as data scalesInstrument services with metrics and alerting; participate in on-call rotationsDebug latency issues, memory problems, and system reliability under loadCollaborate with frontend and mobile engineers on serving analytical data via APITechnical ecosystem Backend : Typescript,EVM and integration patternsReal time systems :WebSockets, event streaming, pub/subStreaming systems : Kafka (ideal)Trading concepts: orders, fills, order books, positions, executionRequirements5+ years of production backend experience, ideally in TypeScriptStrong experience with real-time systems: WebSockets, event streaming, pub/subDeep familiarity with PostgreSQL and Redis; ClickHouse or similar columnar databases a plusTrack record operating services at scale with high availability requirementsUnderstanding of trading concepts: orders, fills, order books, positions, executionExperience designing APIs for latency-sensitive, high-throughput clientsSolid debugging skills - comfortable with slow queries, memory leaks, performance profilingExperience with Kafka similar streaming systemsBackground in trading platforms, fintech, or low-latency applicationsFamiliarity with DeFi or on-chain dataContract : Permanent role (Remote) EMEA or USASalary: 150-200K USD per year on a full-time permanent work contract + equity and benefitsStipend for your ideal remote setup including laptop, peripherals, and work gearMultiple in-person team offsites and coworking sessions around the worldFlexible vacation policy with genuine encouragement to take time offLearning and development budget to help you continuously deepen your craft#J-18808-Ljbffr Similar jobs, Senior Backend Engineer £80,000 - £110,000 | London (Hybrid - 3 days in office) This is not greenfield development and it's not legacy maintenance.
