Job description

While all consultants develop specialised knowledge as they progress within Deloitte, most are initially broad in their focus, meaning they do not need specific industry or functional expertise to be successful. For Associate Directors who join as experienced professionals, this can mean building on previous knowledge or developing experience in an area that is completely new.

As an Associate Director in this practice, you will have the opportunity to be a future leader internally within Deloitte and in our client's eyes. You will take on responsibility early on in your career at Deloitte and develop your skills in managing projects and budgets. You manage diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution. In addition, this role will allow you to be creative in developing client solutions.

To be successful in this role you will work as part of a team of industry specialists providing consulting services to major Public Sector clients, so you'll quickly build upon your existing knowledge, to become an expert in your field.

As an Associate Director, your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage complex client engagements, delivering projects, overseeing budget, and risk.
  • Owning and independently managing the end-to-end responsibility for the delivery of an engagement or major workstream - including developing work plans for engagements, proactively identifying and managing strategic risks, leading and supporting team members - to enable clients to achieve new performance highs
  • Managing the quality of team output presented for senior-level review (Deloitte & client)
  • Managing and leading teams to deliver operations transformation for clients, often driven by new digital capabilities and services, in line with client net zero and sustainability ambitions
  • Building on your leadership skills and leveraging your interest to inspire others, nurture strong relationships, and create true followership
  • Understanding and anticipating client needs based on an excellent understanding of the Public Sector, developing strong client relationships
  • Working with a range of stakeholders across all levels - both internally within Deloitte and in client organisations
  • Managing and coaching junior project members, supporting their wellbeing, development and career trajectory (c.5-7)
  • Leading internal practice development by participating in proposition and methodology development and supporting knowledge capture and sharing. Develop and share thought leadership content through publications, presentations, and client engagements.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in Public Services. Lead proposal development, client presentations, and relationship management with senior stakeholders. Actively contributes to the growth of the practice by identifying and delivering sales opportunities.

At Deloitte, we encourage you to be yourself, and we give you the freedom to contribute creatively while you also learn, develop and make your mark. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, building your skills and experience on the job. You will also experience the breadth of what Deloitte offers, working with colleagues across a range of disciplines and drawing on our market leading methods, and our global assets and tools.

Whatever your aspirations, we offer a highly inclusive, collaborative workplace to ensure our staff are supported, encouraged and feel a sense of purpose and meaning in what they do each day. Our development and career progression framework will help you develop the skills and capabilities to succeed, enabling you to become a leader responsible for real and lasting impact. You will have a support system of career development advisors, the guidance of project leaders, and partnership with your colleagues and teammates at every turn. You will benefit from our global scale and capability, as well as from the speed and nimbleness of our close-knit teams. Life is not all project work, of course. You can be involved with many social, cultural and volunteering opportunities within the firm.

Connect to your skills and professional experience

There is no standard model for Deloitte Associate Directors. We are looking for talented problem-solvers with intellectual curiosity who are ready to be active members of a client team, as well as of the firm-wide community. Associate Directors are involved in every phase of an engagement, from proposal research to final implementation.
