Requirements

  • You are an experienced data scientist or modeller. Your idea of a good day is receiving huge amounts of data and working out how customers are going to behave.
  • You enjoy analysing data, problem solving and building models. You will be building models, ranging from linear regression to gravity or machine learning approaches.
  • You are excited to apply your skills to global markets. You will be doing work for UK and international clients, across a wide range of industries.
  • You want to be original. You don't want to do the same old, same old. You're consistently looking for innovation.
  • You know the right tool for the job. You understand how approaches might vary depending on the problem, data and sample size.
  • You know your way around a GIS. (This is ideal, but not essential).
  • You enjoy the world of retail and have a good grasp of geography.
  • You can programme. You're efficient, anything you don't know you can quickly grasp.
  • You care about your code. You know your way around Git and how to productionise models you have built.
  • You're a 'people person'. You can build relationships with customers and are comfortable leading and presenting projects both independently and as part of a wider project team., * SQL Pro: You are an expert at using SQL for data manipulation (proficient in at least one of PostgreSQL, MSSQL, Google BigQuery, SparkSQL).
  • Coding Skills: Proficiency in at least one of Python, R, Scala, C, Java or JS.
  • Library Experience: A track record of using data manipulation and machine learning libraries in one or more programming languages.
  • Technical Interests: Keen interest in some of the following areas: AI, Big Data Analytics (e.g. Google BigQuery / BigTable, Apache Spark), Parallel Computing (e.g. Apache Spark, Kubernetes, Databricks), Cloud Engineering (AWS, GCP, Azure), Spatial Query Optimisation, Data Storytelling with (Jupyter) Notebooks, Graph Computing, Microservices Architectures.
  • Modelling & Statistics: Modelling experience, ideally customer related or applied.
  • Education: University degree in numbers, Computer Science or Geography.
  • Industry Knowledge: Relevant industry sector knowledge ideal, but not essential.
  • Communication: A strong communicator with the ability to work with colleagues remotely across the globe.
  • Self-Management: Evidence of attention to detail, proactivity and managing deadlines.
