Job description

Our client is seeking a dedicated Infrastructure Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role is pivotal in the development, planning, implementation, and support of standard server systems. You will work alongside the Senior Technical Services Manager to ensure robust support for corporate computer systems, adhering to best practices and service level agreements (SLAs)., * Collaborate with the Senior Technical Services Manager to develop and implement standard server systems.

  • Monitor the server estate using SCOM and manage backup schedules to ensure effective support for corporate computer systems.
  • Conduct acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, and software loading/configuration of ICT equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Handle support requests promptly within agreed SLAs while following ITIL framework best practices.
  • Utilise resources efficiently to deliver high-quality service.
  • Supervise and support junior ICT team members in their roles.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Windows Server technologies and other standard operating systems used within the organisation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced ICT equipment and service issues, liaising with Technical Leads and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Use the ServiceNOW system for incident management, asset management, and to produce management reports.
  • Assist in the procurement, development, and implementation of information systems.
  • Evaluate third-party software and participate in project management according to PRINCE 2 principles.
  • Document all project work to departmental standards and ensure alignment with user requirements and business objectives.
  • Develop documentation for ICT policies, procedures, and system configurations.
  • Provide training to staff and students on ICT equipment and software as required.
  • Present systems to users and other interested parties.
  • Stay updated on current developments in the computer and related industries.
  • Participate in out-of-hours support as needed, appraisals, and personal reviews to achieve set objectives.

Requirements

  • Degree level education or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Recognised IT qualifications (e.g., MCSE Server Infrastructure, Cisco Qualification) are desirable.
  • Extensive experience in implementing and supporting IT equipment and services.
  • Familiarity with server technologies (Active Directory, SQL, Exchange), cloud technologies (Office 365, Azure), and various backup technologies.
  • Knowledge of VMware, Citrix, and network systems is advantageous.
