Oxford Nanopore is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Data Steward to support enterprise-wide data quality, governance, and data integrity initiatives across key business systems. This role will play a critical part in ensuring business data is accurate, reliable, compliant, and optimized to support operational excellence and data-driven decision-making.
The successful candidate will work closely with Commercial, Marketing, Finance, Business Systems (IT), and Analytics teams to improve data quality standards, governance practices, and system processes across platforms including Salesforce, Magento, and Microsoft Dynamics 365., * Own and support data quality monitoring and improvement initiatives within Salesforce, with supporting knowledge of Magento and Microsoft Dynamics 365 data structures and workflows.
- Identify and resolve data inconsistencies, duplicates, inaccuracies, and data integrity issues across core business systems.
- Ensure data lineage is clearly defined, documented, and maintained.
- Develop, implement, and maintain data cleansing, standardization, and enrichment processes.
- Define, monitor, and report on key data quality metrics, including:
- Completeness
- Accuracy
- Consistency
- Timeliness
- Lead and support large-scale data remediation and cleansing projects while minimizing operational disruption.
Data Governance
- Support the development and enforcement of data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with internal data management standards and regulatory requirements, including GDPR where applicable.
- Maintain data definitions, ownership structures, and metadata documentation.
- Partner with business stakeholders and data owners to establish accountability and stewardship for critical data assets.
Process & System Improvement
- Collaborate with IT and system owners to improve data capture processes, validation rules, and system workflows.
- Recommend enhancements to systems and business processes to reduce data quality issues at the source.
- Support implementation of governance frameworks, data quality tools, and system improvements.
- Participate in major system implementations, migrations, and transformation projects to ensure data governance and quality standards are maintained.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as a key point of contact for data-related questions, issues, and incidents across business teams.
- Provide guidance and training on data standards, governance, and best practices.
- Partner closely with analytics and reporting teams to ensure data is reliable and suitable for reporting and business insights.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Support the development of dashboards and reporting to track data quality KPIs and governance metrics.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of data across systems and platforms.
- Communicate findings, risks, trends, and improvement opportunities to stakeholders and leadership teams.

- Salesforce CRM
- Magento (eCommerce platform)
- Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Power BI / Tableau (preferred)
- Data governance and data quality tools (preferred)
Requirements
- Experience in Data Stewardship, Data Governance, Data Quality, or related data management roles.
- Hands-on experience with CRM and ERP systems, particularly Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Strong understanding of data management principles, governance practices, and data quality frameworks.
- Experience with:
- Data cleansing
- Deduplication
- Validation techniques
- Data remediation initiatives
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple business functions.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) tools.
- Familiarity with formal data governance frameworks.
- Experience working within life sciences, biotech, or regulated environments.
- Knowledge of data querying and reporting tools.

Benefits & conditions
The salary for this role is between $79,541 and $90,000 USD. The salary offered will reflect the skills and experience of the candidate. Certain roles within ONT are eligible for annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance.
