As Databricks Data Architect you will be responsible for designing how the Databricks platform is set up and used in practice. This includes defining workspace layouts, compute configuration, storage and Delta table strategy, and how data flows through Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers. Deciding where data should live, how it should be modelled, and which Databricks features to use for building scalable pipelines. Defining governance, security, and data quality standards, help optimize performance and costs, and work closely with data engineers and consumers to turn requirements into working, production-ready data solutions. Your Tasks - Platform Design

Requirements

Architect and manage the end-to-end Databricks environment, including Unity Catalog, workspaces, and networking. - Data Strategy: Define and implement the Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) and cross-domain data modeling. - Pipeline Excellence: Lead the design of scalable ETL/ELT workflows using Spark, Delta Lake, and Databricks Workflows. - Governance & Security: Establish enterprise-wide standards for data quality, lineage, access control, and compliance. - Optimization: Drive "FinOps" initiatives by tuning query performance and optimizing cluster/storage costs. What do we expect from you? Technical Requirements - The Databricks Stack: 3-5+ years of deep expertise in Databricks, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog. - Core Languages: Expert-level Python/PySpark and Advanced SQL. - Modelling Mastery: Proven experience in designing medallion architectures lake house schemas and familiarity with dimensional data models. - DataOps: Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform or Databricks Asset Bundles). - Integrations: Hands-on experience with batch and real-time streaming. - Expertise in designing, setting up and administering platforms with any of the hyperscale's, Azure preferred. - Familiarity with network and security topics (firewalls, VPNs, private links, etc.). Leadership & Strategy - Technical Roadmap: Ability to translate business requirements into technical specs and long-term platform roadmaps. - Collaboration: Proven track record of working as the "bridge" between Data Engineers, Analysts, and C-suite stakeholders. - Best Practices: Passion for mentoring teams on clean code, performance tuning, and scalable architecture.
