Job description

As a Platform Engineer, you are a driving force behind the stability and evolution of Finova's multi-cloud ecosystem. You bridge the gap between infrastructure and software delivery, ensuring our engineering teams can deploy securely and at pace. Your work is mission-critical; from optimizing our AWS and Azure environments to refining CI/CD workflows, you will directly impact the efficiency of a platform that processes £50 billion in loans annually. This is a role for an engineer who wants to move beyond "maintenance" to design the next generation of resilient, high-scale architecture., You will be responsible for the orchestration and innovation of our core platform, ensuring it scales alongside our business growth.

  • Multi-Cloud Orchestration: Managing and scaling robust infrastructure across AWS and Azure using Terraform to ensure consistency and high availability.
  • CI/CD Evolution: Owning and optimizing deployment pipelines within Buildkite and GitHub to reduce lead times while maintaining quality gates.
  • Security-First Engineering: Proactively hardening platforms by integrating automated security scanning and "compliance-as-code" into every layer of the stack.
  • Championing Developer Experience: Building self-service tools and documentation that empower developers to manage their own services.
  • Driving Operational Excellence: Leading initiatives in cost optimization and resource tagging to ensure our cloud footprint remains lean.
  • Designing for Resilience: Implementing the next generation of platform architecture with a heavy focus on observability and disaster recovery.
  • Fostering Culture: Removing technical and cultural bottlenecks to support a high-velocity, modern engineering organization.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Terraform?, You are a proactive, automation-first engineer who thrives on solving complex system bottlenecks. You value developer experience as much as system uptime and enjoy empowering others through smart tooling.

  • Cloud Versatile: You have proven experience managing production workloads in AWS (essential) and Azure (highly desirable).
  • IaC Expert: you possess deep proficiency with Terraform for managing complex, multi-environment infrastructures.
  • Automation Specialist: You have a strong background in CI/CD tools, specifically Buildkite and GitHub Actions.
  • Security-Conscious: You understand how to implement Identity Management, Secret Management, and Encryption within regulated financial environments.
  • A "DevEx" Champion: You are passionate about removing developer friction and fostering a "you build it, you run it" culture.
  • Analytically Minded: You enjoy identifying and fixing system bottlenecks, whether they relate to latency, cost, or process.
  • Effective Communicator: You can translate complex infrastructure concepts into clear, actionable guidance for the wider engineering team.
